One of the most horrific Lovecraft images was one I saw in an illustrated edition of his poem, Psychopompos. It wasn't any of his Elder Gods or creatures from the sewer, it was a realistic wolf, but with human hands. It just looked so weird and creeepy.
This one looks like he's gonna sucker punch you in the jaw with one of those crazy long tentacles!
