Today's drawing is Captain Alatriste, from the novel series by Arturo Perez-Reverte! I first read Perez-Reverte because I liked the Roman Polanski movie based on his novel
The Club Dumas, even though everyone else I know hates it. Oh, well. The Alatriste series is fun - I've only read the first three books, as that was all that had been translated at the time that I read 'em. Maybe the rest are out?
They made a movie of 'em, too, with Viggo Morteson. It was beautifully shot, but I fell asleep halfway through it.

Alatriste books are really good ones, and at least in their spanish version captures all the spirit of what i suppose was to be thoose times.
I recomend to read the short story of Reverte "La sombra del águila", "The shadow of the Eagle", about a coward batallion of spanish soldiers running away from a battle under the orders of Napoleon, but winning it :)
